Tracking Our Progress

Progress Tracking

Achieving and maintaining digital accessibility is an ongoing journey that requires continuous effort and clear measurement. UMBC is dedicated to transparently tracking our progress and making data-driven decisions to enhance our digital inclusivity.

Our Approach to Tracking

Guided by the Digital Accessibility Steering Committee, UMBC will employ a multi-faceted approach to monitor and report on our digital accessibility progress.

  • Regular Audits and Assessments: We use a multi-pronged approach to identify accessibility issues, starting with automated scanning tools for quick detection of common WCAG violations and reporting based on a manual review of supported technologies.
  • Reporting and Accountability: We share reports on our digital accessibility progress with university leadership, relevant departments, and the Digital Accessibility Steering Committee. These reports showcase our achievements, pinpoint ongoing challenges, and help inform future strategic planning.

Our Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Digital accessibility is not a one-time project but an ongoing commitment. We are dedicated to:

  • Staying Current: Monitoring evolving accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Providing Training and Resources: Equipping our community with the knowledge and tools needed to create and maintain accessible digital content.
  • Fostering a Culture of Inclusivity: Promoting awareness and understanding of digital accessibility across campus.
  • Engaging the Community: Soliciting feedback from the community to ensure our efforts are impactful.

Through these policies and robust tracking mechanisms, our university strives to create a digital landscape that is truly accessible and inclusive for everyone.
